Presented by Adelaide Symphony Orchestra

Edward Elgar dedicated his First Symphony to his colleague and hero, the German conductor Hans Richter, "a true artist and true friend."
It is a symphony full of noble tunes, opulent orchestration and has at its heart one of the most soulful slow movements in all music.
In British conductor Martyn Brabbins' hands this promises to be a memorable performance in the glorious acoustic of Adelaide Town Hall. Popular cellist Jian Wang is the virtuoso in Haydn's masterly C Major Concerto.
