Monteverdi's nine magnificent books of madrigals are as much a musical landmark as his Vespers of 1610 and we have chosen the very best from just two of them. Inspired by Monteverdi, Lauridsen's lush Madrigali are a vivid re-invention of some of the most popular madrigal poetry of the Renaissance.
