The Cinematic Orchestra.
Debut Australian Tour
United Kingdom
Orchestral, jazz, soul, electronic
sampled beats and experimental moods
Created by composer and multiinstrumentalist
Jason Swinscoe in
1999, this British-based outfit spin
through musical genres to create very
identifiable aural narratives.
Their live performances evoke heart warming
emotional shifts that navigate through
orchestral, jazz, soul, electronic sampled
beats and experimental moods with a
turntablist and electronic element.
The Cinematic Orchestra's debut album
Motion (Ninja Tune) in 1999 took everyone
by surprise, with listeners of Gilles Peterson's
Radio One show in the UK voting it album
of the year. The critical success of this and
future albums has led to performances across
the world including Royal Albert Hall, and at
the Director's Guild Awards ceremony for the
presentation of the Lifetime Achievement
Award for film director Stanley Kubrick.
Conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary
film, their latest release Ma Fleur (2007)
features the song To Build A Home, prominently
used on the medical drama ,i>Grey's Anatomy and
more recently, in the award winning Cadbury
'Schweppervescense' commercial.
If you enjoyed Pink Martini, presented by
trans:mission in January 2008, you'll love the
Cinematic Orchestra.
