SADARI MOVEMENT LABORATORY.
An 1830s expressionist masterpiece
takes a Korean physical form.
Directed by Do-wan Im
Georg B?chner's Woyzeck remains one of the most enigmatic and influential works of modern theatre. Korea's Sadari Movement Laboratory has created a new dynamic interpretation of the play that illuminates the original work's
hidden potential and develops a new language in physical theatre.
Using wooden chairs as a changeable metaphor the performers both shape
the dramatic space and reveal the character's emotional states, while
Astor Piazzola's dynamic tango becomes the throbbing pulse of the drama.
Woyzeck is a timeless exploration of human jealousy and dehumanisation.
As the soldier Woyzeck lashes out at his proletarian circumstances,
a grotesque parade of society marches around him in oblivion.
Founded in 1998 by company director Do-wan Im after studying at the Ecole de Jacques Lcoq in Paris, Sadari Movement Laboratory is comprised of the creative contributions of all company members.
Performed in Korean with English surtitles.
Suitable for patrons aged 13 years and over.
The Adelaide Festival Centre Carpark is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with regular security patrols. |
