Wed 3 Dec 8pm - Continental Shift: Slava Grigoryan & Al Slavik
Al Slavik teams up with guitar virtuoso Slava Grigoryan to present works from their CD Continental Shift, which is a "continental adventure" reflecting the cultural and musical influences over their careers.
Thurs 4 Dec 8pm - Jean-Felix Lalanne
Playing his own compositions, this concert will represent Jean-Felix's music evolution from the beginning of his career until now including tunes he composed during his tour with Marcel Dadi.
Instrumentalist, composer, conductor, arranger and producer, Jean-Felix Lalanne is considered one of the most talented and prolific French guitarists of his generation.
Fri 5 Dec 8.30pm - Wulfin Lieske, Duo Lointain (Rebecca Harris, Wulfin Lieske) and William Barton
This trio of guitar, cello and didjeridu will feature newly arranged works by legendary Australian composers Ross Edwards and Peter Sculthorpe.
Wulfin met Australian cellist Rebecca Harris and didjeridu artist William Barton at the 2005 Darwin International Guitar Festival. The direct result was the formation of Duo Lointain and subsequent collaborations between Wulfin and William. Duo Lointain made its debut in 2006 for the Musica Viva Menage series in Adelaide.
Sat 6 Dec 4pm - The Joseph Tawadros Trio
Oud virtuoso Joseph Tawadros' original contemporary compositions are based on the Egyptian Maqam system (a melodic modal system), which features odd time signatures, broken bars, catchy ostinato patterns and intensely technical improvisations. The trio is comprised of brothers Joseph Tawadros on oud, James Tawadros on req' (Egyptian tamborine), and Ben Rodgers on bass.
Sun 7 Dec 2pm - Guitar Duo, Lee Song-Ou & Oliver Fartach-Naini
This exceptional guitar duo will premiere new works by Coco Nelegatti (Argentina), Stephen Whittington (Australia), Richard Charlton (Australia), Carlo Domeniconi (Italy) and Ludger Vollmer (Germany).
