This year's "Last Night at the Proms" concert in the Adelaide Town Hall will continue and extend the tradition of excellence in musical entertainment which patrons have come to expect for sixteen years.

The 2009 Proms brings with it several changes.

The Kapelle Singers, directed by their founder Colin Curtis, were chosen as the ABC's "South Australian Choir of the Year" in 2006. They have readily accepted the invitation to perform, with the Band of the 10/27 Royal South Australian Regiment, and are putting together an excellent program-which will, of course, include all the old favourites associated with the Last Night of the Proms.

In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the death of George Frederic Handel, the choir will sing his great coronation anthem Zadok the Priest. They will also perform two stunning movements from The Armed man by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, written in 1999 during the Kosovo War.

It has been one of The Crafers Organ and Choral Society's aims to delight the audience with young singers and instrumentalists. For the first time for many years the Town Hall's Stienway grand piano will be used, a fitting instrument for one of this State's most talented young pianists, Alan Xu, who will play music by the virtuoso pianist Franz Liszt. Also performing is the outstanding young South Australian bass baritone Lachlan Scott.

Another thrilling "first" is the internationally recognised Scottish Fiddle player Cathy Fraser. In addition to the solos she will perform with her accompanist, she will be joined by the Band of the South Australian Pipes and Drums for the introduction to Hector the Hero. The Band will entertain the audience with a history of the development of the trumpet.

This will be a concert not to be missed!
