GRADUATE SINGERS 2010.
Vivaldi
Experience the glory of Venice at the height of its magnificence. The music of Vivaldi sparkles and shines as brightly for us today as it did for audiences in the seventeenth century. His setting of the Gloria is to this day one of the most performed and recognised works of the choral repertoire. Paired with his dramatic Magnificat and with the brilliance of soloists Emma Horwood and Louisa Perfect, this concert promises to transport you to time when La Serenissima reigned supreme.
Beethoven and Schubert
** Note: rescheduled concert 21st October 2010, 8:00pm
Beethoven
Mass in C major, Op. 86
Schubert
Mass in G major, D176
Schubert and Beethoven unarguably stand as two giant pillars of music. Although written when they were young energetic composers exploring their compositional powers, the Mass in G and Mass in C have all of the grandeur, melodic beauty and sheer expressiveness that have come to be associated with Schubert and Beethoven. Accompanied by the richness of strings and with a superb quartet of vocal soloists, this concert showcases the magnificent sacred music of two of the greatest composers.
Cristemas
Over the last 10 years, the Graduate Singers Cristemas concert has become a well loved tradition. This year sees that tradition move to a new level in a concert featuring the spectacular sounds of Brass fanfares combining with the Graduate Singers and Cathedral organ and of course, your voices. What better way to start the Christmas season!
