Misinterprotato are much more than a traditional jazz trio. The group expands the capacities of the classic piano/bass/drums combination with the avant-garde and fresh attitude they bring to their music.

The group's sound is driven by pianist Sean Foran, teamed with John Parker's expansive dynamic and timbal range on percussion and Patrick Marchisella's visceral touch on the double bass. In a rhythm section far beyond just an accompaniment, Marchisella's bass playing exudes emotion sweetly and succintly, and Parker's drumming is so effective as to be interpreted as counter-melodies and harmony to Foran's beautiful flow on the keys.

"We try to expand what people think could be jazz," is how Foran describes the essence of Misinterprotato's music.

In the newest addition to the band's current catalogue of albums, the trio's fourth offering, Variations, finds a confident group of musicians who are truly flourishing. The relaxed structure of Foran and Parker's intimate songwriting decorated by the group's spontaneous musicality create some very special moments on this captivating record.
