In 2007 Zephyr presents Perspectives, a series of three thought-provoking concerts exploring the connection between place and music and asking the question "What music springs from a local culture in a 'global' world and what does it say?"
From a focus on our own "backyard" to inspiration gathered from around the world, Perspectives celebrates our rich and varied cultural fabric, the importance of art in all societies and the sense of a common humanity arising from the shared language of music.
Homegrown - the music of Anne Cawrse.
The Ballroom, Carclew Youths Arts Centre
11 Jeffcott St, Nth Adelaide
In Howegrown, Zephyr presents a selection of music by Adelaide composer Anne Cawrse - a celebration of her compositions written for Zephyr over many years of collaboration. Anne's music speaks straight to the soul, clearly and eloquently, sounding familiar but fresh at the same time. Zephyr will be joined by soprano Emma Horwood for the song cycle A Woman's Song based on verse by female poets Pernette du Guillet, Amy Levy and Emily Bronte. Guitarist Tim Kersten will also perform in the guitar quintet Imperfect Fourth.
Together Alone - Alone Together
Greenaway Art Gallery
39 Rundle St, Kent Town
Following a successful collaboration in 2005, Zephyr is delighted to be working again with artists Angela and Hossein Valamanesh, in whose lives different cultures are melded and in whose art boundaries of inspiration and creation are blurred as they work both together and separately. In a concert inspired by their thoughtful, meticulous and profound visual art and set in the midst of their exhibition at Greenaway Gallery, Zephyr will perform works by Phillip Glass, JS Bach and others, plus newly commissioned pieces by Grahame Dudley and James Cuddeford.
Resonance
Nexus Cabaret, Lions Art Centre

Music is a universal language, evoking specific times, places and memories and yet transcending all these boundaries. Joined by percussionist Tim Irrgang and cellist Zo? Barry, Zephyr performs its own arrangements of evocative folk songs and music from around the world plus new compositions, written by Belinda Gehlert and Hilary Kleinig, inspired by the work of Adelaide poets Yahia Al-Samawy and Rob Walker.
Please join us for a complimentary glass of stunning Wirra Wirra wine at each performance.
