Now in its sixth year of concerts in Adelaide, The Kegelstatt Ensemble is comprised of gifted and passionate young musicians who work together joyfully and fruitfully in bringing great chamber music to life. We take our name from a trio by Mozart - the first to unite a single wind, string and keyboard instrument and place them on equal footing.
The Kegelstatt Ensemble:
Stephanie Wake-Dyster Clarinet
Anna Webb Viola
Leigh Harrold Piano
We return to our roots for our first concert for the year, which focuses on the music of the night. This concert presents Kegelstatt in its original incarnation of clarinet, viola and piano.
The velvety timbres of these particular wind and string instruments are well suited to music of half-shades and moonlight tints.
Here we showcase Kurtag's Hommage á Schumann, a set of eerie and fascinating miniatures, between nocturnal musings by Australian composers Paul Stanhope and Brett Dean.
Paul Stanhope Shadow Dancing for clarinet, viola and piano
W.A. Mozart Trio for clarinet, viola and piano K498, 'Kegelstatt'
György Kurtag Hommage á Schumann for clarinet, viola and piano
Brett Dean Night Window for clarinet, viola and piano
