What more spectacular way to begin a musical adventure than with Nigel Kennedy, long a unique phenomenon in the musical world. Kennedy's range extends from the Elgar Concerto to works inspired by Jimi Hendrix and The Who and his stage presence can be outrageous. But, as those who experienced his sold out performance in 2006 can vouch, it is his sheer mastery, fusing peerless virtuosity with magical insights, which remains in the memory. Here's your chance to savour two aspects of his prodigious art in charming Mozart and Beethoven concertos, pinnacles of the violin repertoire.

The ASO is bringing the stars of the cello to Adelaide for an Australian first celebration. International stars of the cello Li Wei and Nicolas Altstaedt will join the ASO and Adelaide's ever popular Ng Twins, Pei-Jee and Pei-Sian on stage for one very special concert.

Cellissimo blends old and new, favourite pieces by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Boccherini alongside some new and wild selections. Young Estonian composer Tonu Korvits brings his sensuous, dreamy impressionism to a new piece for the Ng brothers, and Matthew Hindson gives Li Wei a chance to "rock out" in his new encore piece. Bringing the whole spectacle to a close will be Friedrich Gulda's legendary concerto, a riotous collision of Viennese charm, jazz and marching band!

Cellissimo is part of the Adelaide International Cello Festival which includes a range of events.

Australian soprano, Lisa Gasteen, has conquered many of the world's leading opera houses in the most demanding soprano roles in the repertoire and is one of a select band of singers whose voices blaze triumphantly through the huge orchestral forces summoned by Wagner and Richard Strauss. In her keenly awaited return to Adelaide, since her triumph in the 2004 Ring, here is a chance to savour her powerful, rapturous singing, tempered with sensitivity when she performs some of the great moments from those giants the operatic repertoire.
