South Australia

From the catwalks of Paris to the office boardroom, South Australian choreographer/performer Erin Fowler presents FEMME, a deeply personal work that explores the stereotypes of femininity through movement, dance, sound, and text. Drawing on Erin’s own experience as an international fashion model and performer, FEMME takes audiences on an intimate journey through the many faces and lived experiences of female identity.

FEMME explores concepts of femininity and female sexuality, gender roles, and what it means to be powerful in a largely masculine dominant culture. Winner of Best Dance at Adelaide Fringe 2019 and the 2020 Made in Adelaide award at Adelaide Fringe, FEMME returns to Adelaide after acclaimed seasons in Reykjavik, Edinburgh, and Stockholm.

FEMME packs a powerful punch. Dark, but never depressing. And that’s credit to Fowler, whose stage presence is compelling, and who leads us to her last hurrah with wit and smarts. Nina Levy, Seesaw Magazine, 2020
Erin’s physicality is mesmerising and stylish. FEMME an intense, complex, bewitchingly beautiful performance and a fantastic exploration of the feminine psyche. Simone Grogan, The Curb, 2020
Femme is a cerebral work, very well designed, and very worthwhile. ★★★★ Peter Burdon, The Adelaide Advertiser, 2019
Fowler’s work is considered reliably good with well-considered themes, exceptional skill and magnificent choreography. She delivers once again with another astounding show. ★★★★½ Simon Lancione, Glam Adelaide
