Adapted by Carolyn Burns, Directed by Simon Phillips
Prepare to be whisked across America, from the skyscraper canyons of New York City to the Black Hills of South Dakota, following advertising exec Roger O. Thornhill in his desperate quest to clear his name.
Following sell-out seasons in Melbourne, the UK and Toronto, the triumphant stage adaption of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest is kicking off Adelaide Festival Centre’s Season 2019 including a special New Year’s Eve performance at Festival Theatre.
Originally produced by Melbourne Theatre Company and Kay + McLean Productions, this slick production recreates all the thrills of Hitchcock’s classic spy-thriller live on stage. From drunken car rides down twisting roads, a love affair on a train, to the famous cliff hanger ending.
The talented cast includes Adelaide’s own Amber McMahon as femme fatale, Eve Kendall, and acclaimed actor Matt Day in the leading role of Roger O. Thornhill.
Just as in 1959, when Alfred Hitchcock stretched the technical resources of cinema, Simon Phillips and the creative team continue to push the technical boundaries of theatre to present Carolyn Burn’s thrilling stage adaptation.
